From Sherly's Desk:
New Life
Before winter season many changes occur in nature.  Color of leaves change from green to yellow and red and leaves start falling from trees.  And The time comes when trees lose their entire leaves.  Leaves contain a substance called chlorophyll with which they absorb sunlight and produce food for the tree.  This process is called photosynthesis.  But in winter, when all the leaves have fallen, trees cannot produce food through this process.  But the question is, how these trees survive in winter season which lasts for four to six months or even more?

During winter the activity of plants slow down and even ceases in many plants.  Studies conducted on this subject shows that plants store carbohydrates as starch and other substances which they utilize as food during this dormant period.

Not only plants, but some animals and fishes also go into dormancy when they do not have any activity.  Snakes, frogs, insects and other animals go deep into the earth and stay there till winter season is over.

Likewise fishes stay inactive in ponds and rivers when snow covers the earth.  It is surprising to know that when snow and ice cover the rivers as a blanket, still the water below the ice layer remains above freezing temperature.  That's how the fish survive staying at the bottom of river where temperature does not go down below four degrees

centigrade. When winter season is over, new leaves start coming up on trees, animals and insects come out and fishes start swimming again.  Isn't it marvelous?  Spring revives everything and brings life in them.

Likewise, because sin over shadows us and overpowers us, we human beings, though we walk, talk, do many works, study, laugh and eat, still we are spiritually dead because of our sin.  But when we accept Jesus in our lives and when Jesus comes in our lives, He revives our soul and gives us new life.  He forgives and forgets all our sins and gives eternal life.  If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then invite Him

in your life and you will never be the same again.  Please repeat this prayer after me:

Jesus, I am a sinner.  Please forgive and forget all my sins and revive my soul so that I may not perish, but have everlasting life.  I accept you as my Lord and Savior today.  Please come into my life and bless me.  I thank you for listening to my prayer.  I give you all the glory.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
